Heading To Tafraoute

27th Feb

Today was another mooching about day. I was not able to post the blog till later on in the afternoon due to internet problems! The weather again is overcast with a breeze coming over from the mountains. I bought a few items of the local trader. "I give you good price man" Over a lengthy haggle in which I had to walk away a few times shaking my head and him saying I was not Englishman but a Berber? Anyhow I bought a new 6m windbreak a vinyl table cloth for our outside table and a pair of sunscreens for our tyres, the tyres get extremely hot over here with the heat, and the UV rays damage the sidewalls. He took our table away and about 2hrs, later he was back with all the items. Top notch, and less than half the price on eBay. He also asked if Sam was for sale and offered 200 camels, it probably was a good deal, but for one, Max don't like them! and what the hell am I to do with 200 camels.
We plan to stop at some campsites we passed on the way down, so tomorrow we will head to a place just outside Tifnit along the coast.

28th Feb

We drove 84km up the N1 from Aglou Plage via Tiznit and onto Camping Bakanou a few km outside the Parc National de Souss-Massa, 30°10'37.0"N 9°35'57.4"W

The campsite is owned by a French couple, 85dir with lecky and wifi. The site is rustic but with good facilities and the village is 300m up the dirt track. The campsite is a few km from the town of Tifnit. We have bread delivered to the van in the morning and a fruit and veg man with his mule and cart and fish seller visit the site every few days along with the local Argon oil/ Honey/and Blanket sellers that frequent the site .

A few images of the village

We just took a stroll around the village, there are a few grocery shops not much else. The weather has been extremely hot and forecast to get hotter! I have not worn a pair of socks since arriving in Morocco just sandals.
Swansea beat Burnley! og scored, since Bony left he has been our best striker? Look out
Spurs on Wednesday. Later on I went to the wifi lounge a few times to check on the
proceedings at Stade France, Wales were playing the French in their backyard, and Wales
duly won a good match, judging by the running comentary 20-13.

St Davids Day

Today we were invited by the owner of the site to aperitif's at 12 noon, we left Max indoors and strolled over, it was not going to be his day he had a bath later on so he was totally miffed. There was two tables of nibbles laid out, and a good Sangria was ladled out of a bucket, it was a nice gesture and something the owner does every Sunday. Needless to mention I visited the bucket man a few times, we were told to bring our own glasses, if I had of known I would have brought 1/2 pint mugs.

The chap in the red top reminded me of someone in Horsham?   "any ideas"
He never strayed far from the bucket, and neither did I.

Quite a few people gathered for the freebie's
Max is not keen on St Davids day, after he had a scrub up in the dog shower!

Earlier my sister had sent a picture to our family WhatsApp group, wishing us a Happy St
David's day, so I posted one back with my flag draped around my shoulders, not one to be
outdone, my brother sent one from sunny Port Talbot, global warming must have hit Wales
earlier than the rest of the country?

Happy St David's Day, from sunny Morocco.

Again there was a six nations rugby match on in the afternoon and Ireland exacted revenge on our narrow loss to England, by thumping them 19-9. That sets up a mouth watering clash at the Millennium stadium for Wales in two weeks time.
Chelsea also beat Spurs, "Spurs seem to be using Fergie's clock of late to be eeking their wins" in the Carling Cup final. It only seems like yesterday that I was there at Wembley for the same final two years ago, which saw Swansea deservedly back in Europe where they belong. Who knows maybe this year?

2nd - 3rd March

We did not do alot on Monday as we started drinking early yesterday and were a bit hung over, a walk into the village to pick up some eggs and garlic, was all we could muster up.
We are Tagined out at the mo, so I made a meatloaf for lunch with mash carrots n onion gravy.
Most probably the only dog eating a pigs trotter in Morocco

It was that hot today (Tue's) that the speedo's came out! I had noticed a few Frenchies walking around the site with them on, so why not? Sam wanted to take a picture for the blog, this being a family blog I told her that I had the final say on content, and that was that, no picture.
Our plan was to leave today and head into Agadir for supplies, then head into the mountains to Tafaroute, like all good plans they came to nothing as the weather here again was scorching, by 11am it was in the 40's so it was speedo's on again for a short while, and laze about doing nothing. With the sun comes the flies though, and it's hard to sit and relax with a dozen or more flies walking your body, Max also gets irrated easily by them and spends his time snapping at thin air trying to catch them in his mouth!
Another venture into the village for a large baguette a tub of butter spread and a litre of milk, 14dir about 90p, hence the need to do a shop at Marjane where its cheaper!

Today I read that font of football knowledge Lawro has got us down for a loss against Spurs on Wed!! I cant remember the last time he forecast us to win? If all his predictions on Swansea were right we would not have double figures now. The guy is a pillock and an embarrassment, but I love seeing him proved wrong on a regular basis!  Rant over!!

4th March

We packed up and drove to Agadir Marjane and Carrefour to restock on supplies and Beer, we would be heading inland soon and there are not any supermarkets like this for a while?
We saw the temperature on the outside of a bank it was reading 46c. We passed the Mosque that I saw being built a few weeks ago, and I stopped to take this photo.
Moroccan Health and Safety

Shopping done we were running later than schedule so we decided to stop at a new campsite not far from Agadir, Camping Takat  It is another brand new campsite, again French owned, 30°15'13.5"N 9°35'07.0"W  85dir plus 15dir with EHU, but we are running on our leisure battery for the stay.
There are a few shops on site and a wifi lounge. Also a fish seller that comes twice a week.
No haggling with this guy

We will stay here two days then head for Tafraoute for the Almond Blossom Festival.

6th March

Once again the weather is scorching by 11am it was 47c. It's even too hot for me to sit out for any length of time.

Rachid has been busy painting these vans
 Some pics of the campsite
This guy will make anything including clothes

It is to hot to walk anywhere. we will have a lazy day, beer o'clock will be early today. There is a beach about 2 miles down the road, we will stop by there tomorrow to check it out Tomorrow we drive into the Atlas mountains to Tafraoute.
